Publishing a Blog post on Wordpress Print

Step 1: Log Into WordPress

  1. Navigate to https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin

  2. Log in using assigned credentials

  3. Confirm you are on the WordPress Dashboard


Step 2: Create a New Blog Post

  1. In the left sidebar, click Posts

  2. Select Add New

  3. Confirm the WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) loads


Step 3: Enter the Post Title

  1. Click into the title field at the top

  2. Paste or type the approved blog title

  3. Verify capitalization and spelling

  4. Confirm the auto-generated URL slug is clean

    • Short

    • Lowercase

    • No unnecessary words

You may edit the slug by clicking the settings panel if needed.


Step 4: Add Blog Content

  1. Click into the main content area

  2. Paste the full blog article

  3. Ensure formatting is preserved:

    • Headings use Heading blocks (H2, H3)

    • Paragraphs are separated clearly

    • No em dashes are used

  4. Scroll through the post to confirm spacing and readability


Step 5: Add Categories and Tags

  1. Open the Post Settings panel on the right

  2. Under Categories, select one primary category

  3. Under Tags, add 5 to 8 relevant tags

    • Use existing tags when possible

    • Avoid creating duplicates


Step 6: Set the Featured Image

  1. In the Post Settings panel, locate Featured Image

  2. Click Set Featured Image

  3. Upload or select an existing image

  4. Ensure:

    • Image is relevant

    • File name is descriptive

    • Alt text is filled out accurately


Step 7: Meta Description (SEO)

If an SEO plugin is installed (Yoast, Rank Math, etc):

  1. Scroll to the SEO section below the editor

  2. Paste the approved meta description

  3. Keep length between 150 and 160 characters

  4. Ensure it accurately summarizes the post


Step 8: Review Before Publishing

Perform the following checks:

  • Title matches approved version

  • Content contains no financial, legal, insurance, or medical advice

  • Disclaimer footer is present if required

  • Formatting looks correct on desktop view

  • No spelling or grammar errors

Optional:

  • Click Preview to view the post as a visitor


Step 9: Publish or Schedule

  1. In the top right, click Publish or Schedule

  2. If scheduling:

    • Select correct date and time

    • Confirm timezone

  3. Click Confirm Publish


Step 10: Post-Publish Verification

  1. Click View Post

  2. Confirm:

    • Page loads correctly

    • Featured image displays

    • Links work

  3. Copy the post URL for records or notification emails
